I can't believe it has taken me so long to get another post here . . . but it takes me longer than the usual person to get around to doing anything! :0) Two weeks ago now, hubby and I decided to do a whirlwind trip to see our newest granddaughter. This is an 18 hour drive, however you slice it or dice it, and we had originally thought we could do it in one day's drive . Ha! We forget the need for sleep that we both have . . . so we started out on a Thursday evening, and drove 4 1/2 hours to Wichita, KS and spent the night. Friday we drove the rest of the way, and we arrived at 7:30 pm, just in time to have a wonderful soup supper - and even time to relax and chat - and of COURSE hold sweet little Brooke. Oh, I don't know what it is, but there is a way of just falling in love with a baby . . . and knowing it is the child of someone you love very much, just makes it so very special. Suffice it to say that Grandpa and Grammy fell right in love . . . as they have with their other 5 grandchildren! The weekend held many hours of conversation, baby holding, games, and just the warm heart from being with this part of our family.
Karl got to go 4-wheeling with Blake, which was a first for him, and BOY was he into it! I knew he would love it, and that deep down inside he'd like to try it . . . so they did the manly thing and went out for a few hours. They had a great time. Later in the day Jared arrived . . . how awesome it was to see him
again. Karl hadn't seen him for two years, and it had been longer since I had seen him . We enjoyed his company SO much . . that Courtney and I twisted his arm to stay Sunday night, too! Afterall, there were some revenge games that needed to be played! lol

She had a little fussy period, but Grandpa took her, and she went right back to sleep. :0) He has the touch!

It is always sad to leave, so we said our good byes Sunday night. We were on the road by 4:30 am, and were trucking right along making good time . . . until we got in the Rockies west of Vail, and it was snowing. Right before the Vail exit, Karl passed a semi-tractor trailer, and then we spun a 360 and landed in the snowbank on the right side of the road. By the grace of God we didn't hit anyone, nor visa versa, so we got AAA to pull us out of the snowbank, got our flat tire changed to the "donut", then went two exits up to get the flat fixed that was mangled, and had it remounted. Back on the road it was "slow-going" until we got about to Denver, and the snow completely stopped, and roads were dry. As much as we hustled on the road, we knew that we would need to spend the night, which we did again in Wichita. We arrived home safe and sound Tuesday.

We loved having your guys come stay with us! That picture you posted of Brooke's little face is so cute! I heard about your experience in the Rockies and we're just so glad everything turned out okay! Can't wait to see you again!
